Magento to Shopify
Replace Costly Magento Upkeep With a Shopify Store You Can Run Yourself
Magento (Adobe Commerce) can do almost anything, but keeping it running costs real money: dedicated hosting, security patches, version upgrades and a developer for every change. Shopify handles hosting, security and checkout for a fixed monthly plan.
Magento stores are rarely simple to move. Configurable and bundle products, attribute sets, customer groups and .html URLs all need careful mapping. We plan that mapping first, migrate your data, rebuild the storefront and redirect every old URL, while Magento keeps selling until launch.
- What comes across from Magento
- Configurable products
- Categories
- Customers and groups
- Order history
- CMS pages and blocks
- Blog posts
- Images
- SEO titles and URLs
Magento vs Shopify
Why Businesses Switch From Magento to Shopify
These are the most common reasons stores move from Magento to Shopify.
Lower Running Costs
No servers, hosting bills, security patches or costly upgrade projects. Shopify handles all of it for one monthly plan.
A Bigger App Ecosystem
Thousands of Shopify apps for reviews, subscriptions, upsells, email and shipping, so you are not limited by built-in features.
Sell Everywhere
Sell on TikTok Shop, Facebook, Instagram and Google from one dashboard, with your inventory synced across every channel.
Room to Grow
A high-converting checkout with Shop Pay, and a clear path to Shopify Plus as your sales grow.
Still on Magento 1 or an older Magento 2 version? Move to Shopify before your next costly upgrade. We plan the migration around your catalog, integrations and SEO.
Magento Data, Mapped
How Magento's Structure Translates to Shopify
Magento organizes products and customers in more layers than Shopify. This is how we translate each one.
Configurable, Bundle and Grouped Products
Configurable products become Shopify products with variants. Bundles and grouped products are rebuilt with a bundle app or linked products, so customers can still buy them together.
Category Tree
Magento's nested categories become Shopify collections, and we rebuild the navigation menu so the same browsing paths still work.
Customers and Customer Groups
Customers move with names, emails and addresses. Customer groups and tier pricing are set up with Shopify B2B features or a pricing app. Passwords can't move, so we set up account invites.
Order History
Past Magento orders are imported as archived orders, so reporting and customer history continue in Shopify.
CMS Pages and Blocks
Magento CMS pages and static blocks are rebuilt as Shopify pages and theme sections, so content like size guides and shipping info stays in place.
Blog Content
Posts from Magento blog extensions are moved to the Shopify blog with images, dates and SEO titles.
Attributes and Product Images
Attribute sets become product options and metafields, and every product image is moved, compressed and given clear file names and alt text.
Storefront Design
We recreate your Magento look in a Shopify theme, or use the move to modernize the design and speed up the store.
Relying on Magento extensions for B2B, multi-store views or custom checkout rules? List them on your free quote and we'll map each one to a Shopify option.
Magento SEO Migration
Keep Your Google Rankings When You Leave Magento
Magento usually adds .html to product and category URLs and can have several URLs for the same product. Shopify uses one clean format, so each old URL needs a redirect to the right new page.
A Full 301 Redirect Map
Magento product links like /blue-shirt.html point to /products/blue-shirt, and blog links like /blog/my-post point to your Shopify blog. Every page is redirected.
SEO Details Moved
Meta titles and descriptions from Magento, image alt text and URL keys are carried across, so pages that already rank keep their SEO work.
Search Console Handover
After launch we submit the Shopify sitemap, test redirects for products, categories and CMS pages, and check Search Console for crawl errors.

Whew! Ameer Ali at Primora Commerce has been a GODSEND! When my website went down, I was nervous about what that meant for my business and my clients. Ameer came to my rescue with patience, focus, and a plan. He recommended SiteGround and handled the transition from my old hosting while keeping me updated every day. This was a complicated project, and he worked late some nights to meet our deadline. What I appreciated most was how calmly he answered my questions and helped me feel comfortable trusting him with my website, passwords, and access. As a business owner, that trust means EVERYTHING! This is my second project with Ameer, and I’m so excited about what we accomplished. If you need a knowledgeable, dependable web developer who follows through, I highly recommend Ameer. Thank you for helping me breathe again!Posted on Google![]()

Products, categories, customers, orders and CMS content are migrated, then checked against Magento for missing variants or prices.
- 04
URL Redirects
Every .html product and category URL, plus CMS pages, gets a 301 redirect, and meta titles and descriptions move across.

Yes. Products, customers, orders, pages, blog posts and images can all be transferred. Magento designs cannot be copied directly, so we rebuild your pages in a Shopify theme that matches your brand.
Not if the migration is done properly. We set up 301 redirects from every old Magento URL to its new Shopify URL and move your titles, meta descriptions and alt text. A short dip right after launch is normal while Google recrawls your site.
Yes. Migration tools such as Cart2Cart and apps on the Shopify App Store can import Magento products and customers. They do not rebuild your design, pages or redirects, so we use the right tool for your data and handle the rest by hand.
Magento can export products to a CSV file, but it does not match Shopify’s import format and leaves out orders, pages, blog posts and redirects. We handle the export, mapping and import for you.
You keep your domain. We point it from your current host to Shopify on launch day, and your email stays with your current provider.
No. Your Magento site stays live while we build and test your Shopify store. We only switch the domain on launch day.
Yes. We migrate both Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce stores. Custom modules and B2B features are reviewed during the free audit, and we recommend Shopify apps or custom solutions to replace them.
Yes. Passwords cannot be transferred from Magento for security reasons, so customers are invited to reactivate their accounts on Shopify.
Yes. We work with US stores and service businesses moving to Shopify, with communication during US business hours.
We work on a 50/50 payment plan: 50% to start and 50% when your new store is ready to launch. Payments are made through a secure PayPal invoice.
