How Much Does It Cost to Set Up a TikTok Shop in 2026? – Primora Commerce guide

Updated October 2026

Opening a TikTok Shop is free. You don’t pay a monthly subscription or listing fees. But selling on TikTok Shop does have costs: TikTok takes a fee on each sale, and most sellers also pay for fulfillment, creator commissions and, optionally, ads or professional setup.

Here’s what a TikTok Shop really costs US sellers in 2026.

1. Referral fees (TikTok’s cut of each sale)

TikTok charges a referral fee on every order, and payment processing is included. The fee moved from 2% plus $0.30 to 6% for most categories in April 2024.

In 2026, reports differ. Several sources still list 6% for most categories, while others report that TikTok raised the fee to around 8% for many categories from August 2026, with higher rates in some beauty and electronics categories. We could not confirm the 8% rate on an official TikTok rate page, so check the rate shown in your own Seller Center and on your settlement reports.

Example: on a $40 order at a 6% referral fee, TikTok keeps $2.40. At 8% it keeps $3.20. Budget for the higher number until you confirm your category’s rate.

2. New-seller discount

New sellers are reported to get a reduced 3% referral fee for their first 30 days if they make their first sale within 60 days of opening. If you plan to launch, have your products and content ready so you can sell quickly and benefit from it.

3. Shipping and fulfillment

You can ship orders yourself or use Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT), where TikTok stores, packs and ships your products. Industry estimates put FBT at roughly $2.86 to $4.28 per unit, with free storage for the first 60 days and about $3 per return. Multi-unit fees for heavier items increased in June 2026. Check TikTok’s current rate card before you send stock.

4. Affiliate creator commissions

TikTok Shop Affiliate lets creators promote your products for a commission you choose. US averages are reported at around 13%, with 15% to 25% common in competitive categories like beauty. You only pay commission when a creator’s content makes a sale.

5. Ads (GMV Max)

Ads are optional. Since July 2025, TikTok Shop ads run through GMV Max, which automatically optimizes for sales. You choose your own budget, so you can start small and scale what works.

6. Professional setup costs

Many sellers hire help to avoid rejected applications and listing problems. Typical US prices in 2026:

  • Freelance gigs: low cost, but quality varies a lot
  • Specialist setup services: about $200 to $600 for setup, listings and integration
  • Full-service agencies: $1,000+ for setup, often with monthly management fees

Primora Commerce offers fixed-price TikTok Shop setup at $250 (Basic), $350 (Standard) and $599 (Premium), plus a $299 Shop Rescue if your application was rejected. See our TikTok Shop setup services.

TikTok Shop fees example: what you keep from a $30 sale

Here is a simple example of how TikTok Shop fees add up on a $30 order, using the 6% referral fee most sources list and the 8% rate some sellers report.

On a $30 saleAt a 6% referral feeAt an 8% referral fee
Referral fee (includes payment processing)$1.80$2.40
You keep if you sold it yourself$28.20$27.60
Creator commission, if a creator made the sale (15%)$4.50$4.50
You keep if a creator made the sale$23.70$23.10

Your product cost, shipping and any ad spend come out of what you keep. This is a simplified example: rates can differ by category and TikTok may calculate fees on a slightly different amount, so check the fee breakdown on each order in Seller Center for exact numbers.
